Adapting to Climate Change

This course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand adaptation to climate change, and to identify, design and implement adaptation actions in a diverse range of contexts.

The course is designed for anyone who needs to engage with adaptation at a high level in their work. This might include professionals tasked with integrating adaptation into their organisation’s operations, or people working on specific adaptation and resilience initiatives. It runs over 5 days as an in-person course, or as 11 interactive webinars with five additional exercises, totalling 16 online sessions, each of two hours duration.

This course consists of our 5 core modules, the last of which (on monitoring, evaluation and learning) also runs as a course in its own right. Follow the links below to see the content of each module:

  1. Science & policy contexts
  2. Adaptation concepts and principles
  3. Climate risk assessment
  4. Adaptation decision making, action and governance
  5. Monitoring, evaluation and learning for adaptation

The course incorporates the content of our Adaptation Literacy course, which corresponds to Modules 1 and 2 above. Anyone who has already taken the Adaptation Literacy course can join this course at Module 3 with a 40% reduction in cost (paying only for Modules 3-5).

We also run this course for organisations on demand, either as an off-the-shelf product or tailored to an organisation’s needs (see also build your own training).

An overview of the course content can be downloaded here (pdf).

This course is run by Dr. Nick Brooks. Check dates and pricing, or contact us to register or express an interest in attending the course.
