Barcelona training

We’re planning our next “Adapting to Climate Change” 5-day training course for March 2020 in Barcelona, if we can recruit enough participants to make it viable to run the course outside the UK (also a sensible long-term strategy in anticipation of Brexit). Dates are to be confirmed, but the course will run in the second, third or fourth week of March (feel free to let us know if you are interested and have a preference). The Urban Resiience in a Context of Climate Change conference will run from the 9-10 March close to the intended venue for the training.

The first 2 days will provide an overview of the current state-of-the-art of global climate change science and policy issues, climate change impacts, adaptation, and (a new addition), the net-zero agenda. What are our prospects for meeting the Paris goals, and what do we have to do to achieve them? What happens if we don’t? These 2 days form a stand-alone module, and anyone can attend them without needing to attend the whole course.

The final 3 days will look in more detail at how we ‘do’ adaptation, addressing climate risk screening, climate risk and vulnerability assessment, the use of online climate data platforms, adaptation decision-making, and adaptation monitoring, evaluation and learning, through the use of taught sessions and practical exercises.

The course is aimed at anyone who needs to address adaptation decision-making in their day-to-day work or organisational context. Costs are €520 for first 2 days & €1300 for all 5 days.

If you are interested in attending please let us know as soon as possible, as we can only run the course if we have a sufficient number of participants, and we will need to confirm by early February 2020. For more information, see the course page, or contact us.
